Job summary

Altasciences is seeking an Animal Care Technician to ensure health and humane care of research animals in a GLP-regulated facility. You will perform daily husbandry, maintain clean housing, monitor health, and document observations following ALCOA+ and SOP requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ALAT certification preferred.
• BS/BA in a scientific discipline preferred.
• Ability to work with multiple animal species in a GLP-regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and husbandry for animals, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, health observations, and maintaining a comfortable environment.
• Handle and work with a variety of species, including mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, swine, and non-human primates, with professionalism and respect for welfare.
• Monitor animal behavior and health status and promptly communicate observations to the appropriate teams.
• Maintain animal housing areas through cleaning, sanitation, cage-changing, and environmental monitoring.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as cage washers, autoclaves, and animal transport equipment.
• Document activities in accordance with GLP, ALCOA+ principles, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and biosecurity protocols.
• Participate in rotating weekend and evening schedules to ensure continuous animal care.
