Job summary

SPCA Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an entry‑level Clerk to manage animal intake using an appointment system and interact with pet owners. You will gather animal details, support owners with alternatives to keep pets at home, and assist with vaccinations and medication administration.

The role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work varied hours, including days, evenings, and weekends. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to handle stressful situations as presented by visitors, staff and/or volunteers.
• Ability to work in environments with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, traffic hazards, pathogenic substances, animal attacks and animal bites.
• Must be 18 years of age, has a high school diploma or equivalent GED, valid driving license with a clean record.
• Ability to operate a computer and knowledge of commonly associated software programs.
• Ability to work daytime, evenings and weekends as assigned.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more, work with all species of animals, have the physical ability to maintain balance, scoop, crouch, and reach over your head.

Responsibilities

• Taking in animals using an appointment system and capturing detailed information in the computer database.
• Work closely with owners to help keep their pets in home by offering alternatives.
• Administering vaccines to every animal that is turned into the facility (unless aggressive).
• Answering the telephone and retrieving messages; provide intake process information and alternatives.
• Administering medication to various animals.
• Scheduling appointments in PetPoint.
• Cleaning the Intake Department and caring for animals in that area.
• Other duties as assigned.
