Job summary

County Animal Shelter in Covington, KY is seeking a full-time Animal Care Worker to help maintain the shelter, care for animals, and support daily operations.

You will assist in intake, vaccinations, licensing, and adoption processes, and work under supervision. The role requires lifting up to 80 pounds and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent.
• Experience in the care and keeping of small animals; or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Ability to work well alongside coworkers and the community.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to multitask effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate and thorough records.
• Feeds and cares for animals in care.
• Sells and registers pet licenses.
• Assists in the intake of animals, including administering vaccinations and other routine medical treatments.
• Assists the Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) with administering medications and performing blood-draws.
• Assists the public with the recovery of lost pets by completing lost reports, checking found reports, and making additional recommendations on recovery.
• Assists in opening and closing animal shelter including totaling and balancing receipts.
