Expedia Group is seeking a skilled Android Engineer to build and operate reliable mobile experiences for travelers and partners in Chicago. You will translate product requirements into maintainable code, participate in API integration, data modeling, testing, and reviews, and help shape system design.

You will collaborate across engineering, product, design, and other domains to deliver performant, accessible apps while monitoring performance, security, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• Professional experience developing Android applications and delivering production software.
• Experience owning and contributing to components or services within a defined product or technical domain.
• Proficiency with Android development fundamentals, software engineering practices, API integration, data modeling, testing, version control, and debugging.
• Ability to apply low-level system design principles and make sound technical decisions within the scope of assigned work.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain Android mobile experiences that deliver reliable, intuitive outcomes for travelers and partners.
• Translate product requirements into well-structured, maintainable code using appropriate Android development practices and technical judgment.
• Contribute to low-level system design, API integration, data modeling, testing, and code reviews within an assigned service or product area.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, design, and other technical domains to deliver cohesive mobile capabilities and resolve complex technical issues.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve application performance, reliability, security, and operational health throughout the development lifecycle.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes, while building familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
