Job summary

Expedia Group is hiring an experienced Android Engineer to build, enhance, and maintain features across multiple brands. You will design clean Kotlin code, APIs, and data models using Android best practices, and contribute to mobile system design with backend integration.

You will diagnose issues, improve performance and reliability, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions into mobile features throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional experience developing Android applications using Kotlin, including shipping and supporting features in production.
• Experience owning well-defined components or services within a mobile application, including API consumption, data modeling, and integration with backend systems.
• Solid understanding of Android fundamentals (lifecycle, Compose layouts, navigation, networking, threading, performance) and core software engineering practices such as code reviews, testing, and version control, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and the ability to safely integrate AI/ML‑enabled solutions into mobile features under guidance.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain Android application features that deliver reliable, high-quality customer experiences across multiple Expedia Group brands and use cases.
• Design and implement clean, testable Kotlin code, including well-structured APIs and data models, following Android and mobile engineering best practices.
• Contribute to system and low-level design for mobile components, including screen flows, interaction patterns, navigation, error handling and integration with backend services and data sources.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve issues in Android applications, improving performance, stability, and usability through data-driven analysis and experimentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver features end-to-end, ensuring high code quality with unit tests, UI/integration tests, and continuous integration practices.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
