Job summary

City of Toledo is seeking a Water Service Technician to conduct AMI equipment inspections, perform meter readings, and install/upgrade AMI meters and endpoints. You will diagnose non-reading meters, communicate with customers, and schedule field appointments while ensuring safety and data accuracy.

The role requires hands-on field work, strong teamwork with engineering and customer service, and adherence to regulatory standards for water distribution systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years in water distribution or related software experience.
• Two years of experience with water distribution, billing software, or AMI data analytics; an Associate's degree may substitute.
• Must be able to lift 100 pounds and work in confined spaces.
• Must be bondable and have a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess OTCO backflow certification within 12 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain AMI equipment and infrastructure.
• Diagnose non-reading meters and implement field mitigations.
• Install, replace, or upgrade AMI meters and endpoints.
• Perform manual and mobile meter readings.
• Analyze AMI data to identify trends and improvements.
• Interact with customers and schedule installations or service appointments.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and customer service.
• Maintain accurate records using mobile devices.
• Adhere to safety guidelines during field work.
