Job summary

Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform water service initiation and termination, read meters, and assist customers with AMI system inquiries. You will schedule field visits, verify readings, and maintain accurate records.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, strong math skills, and the ability to work a Monday–Friday schedule with potential overtime and on-call duties. Safety policies apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of meter reading, customer service, billing, computer operations, or related experience.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Connect and disconnect water services; verify meter readings for accurate billings.
• Investigate high bill complaints and explain AMI meter readings to customers.
• Schedule field termination/turn-ons and assist customers with account issues.
• Assist customers in understanding AMI system functions and meter symbols.
• Maintain and prepare work orders; monitor delinquent accounts and collect payments as needed.
