Job summary

The City of New Orleans is seeking an Automated Metering Infrastructure Technician to install, inspect, test, maintain and repair AMI systems for the Sewerage and Water Board. Duties include connecting/disconnecting water service, installing AMI meters, checking for leaks, and assisting customers with readings and billing questions.

The role requires a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and either two years of related experience or permanent status in the AMI Technician,

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license.
• A High School Diploma/GED.
• AND Either: Two years of experience in either water meter installation, repair, meter reading or water distribution. Or: Permanent status in the classification of Automated Metering Infrastructure Technician, Trainee.

Responsibilities

• Install AMI meters and related components.
• Inspect and test AMI infrastructure and connections.
• Repair or replace meters, boxes or parts as needed.
• Answer customer questions about meter readings, high usage or bills, leaks, and related issues.
