Lufthansa Cargo in Chicago seeks an experienced Operations Manager for cargo operations across the Americas. You will drive performance, ensure safety and compliance, and collaborate with headquarters and partners to implement best practices.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, air cargo/aviation experience, strong analytical and change-management skills, and willingness to travel extensively within the region. relocation assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in air cargo, aviation, logistics, transportation/comparable operational environment.
• Experience working with suppliers, service providers/operational partners.
• Proven track record of driving operational improvements and solving complex problems.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the Americas region.
• Confidence to challenge constructively, drive accountability & hold yourself/others to high standards.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Stakeholder influencing and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication.
• Strong project and change management skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong business acumen.
• Must possess a legal work permit in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Drive operational performance/continuous improvement.
• Enhance safety, security, service quality, compliance, reliability & operational efficiency.
• Monitor operational performance indicators.
• Identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead performance reviews, operational assessments, audits & station visits.
• Analyze trends, root causes & operational risks.
• Develop sustainable corrective actions.
• Act as focal point for operational projects, improvements/strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues at headquarters & across the global network to implement best practices & operational standards.
• Manage supplier performance/foster strong partnerships with stakeholders.
• Provide operational expertise during irregular operations, escalations & critical situations.
• Takeover of additional tasks when required.
