Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking an Ambulatory Divisional Registered Nurse to support and coordinate clinical care across multiple outpatient locations. This role requires interdisciplinary partnership with providers and ambulatory leadership to ensure safe, timely care within the division.

The nurse will follow physician orders within the Nurse Practice Act, perform triage, train staff, and assist with chart preparation and referrals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current RN license and BLS Certification.
• Nursing specialty board certification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience; 1–2 years in pediatric or adult division preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triages patient calls and in basket messages per ambulatory standards.
• Facilitates training to improve division knowledge across locations.
• Prepares charts for return visits and reviews records prior to patient visits.
• Performs multi-site nursing visits including education, treatments, or assessments.
• Supports prior authorization requirements and denial appeals.
• Acts as a nursing clinical role model and promotes patient satisfaction.
