Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking an Ambulatory Divisional Registered Nurse to join the Pediatric Urology program at CHoR. You will provide hands-on care, educate patients and families, and coordinate care across outpatient locations.

You will work with physicians, APPs, and care teams to manage perioperative and post-operative ambulatory care, ensuring safe, timely services and high patient satisfaction across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Registered Nurse license and BLS certification.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience; 1-2 years in pediatric or adult division preferred.
• Nursing specialty board certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows physician/licensed provider orders within the Nurse Practice Act and established standards, policies, and practice guidelines.
• Triages patient calls and in-basket messages per ambulatory/division standards.
• Facilitates training to improve the specialty knowledge base across all ambulatory clinic locations.
• Prepares chart for return visits; reviews records prior to patient visit.
• Completes new patient referrals; ensures outside records are available; chart prep to ensure correct clinic.
• Provides disease- and procedure-specific education to patients in clinic.
• Creates educational materials to support division topics.
• May assist providers during clinical procedures across the division.
• Partners with providers, Assistant Clinical Manager, Program Coordinators, and Nurse Navigators for continuity of care across clinic sites.
• Performs multi-site nursing visits with education, treatments, or assessments.
• Supports prior authorization requirements and denial appeals.
• Aids providers in obtaining clinic testing and treatment.
• Monitors patient satisfaction and customer feedback; strives for service excellence.
• Serves as a nursing clinical role model and division subject matter expert.
• Seeks collaborations in research, evidence-based practice or process improvement.
• Takes actions to enhance positive outcomes; anticipates needs for quality care.
• Maintains professional growth through ongoing education.
• Performs other duties and accepts alternate assignments.
