Job summary

Arizona Specialty Surgery Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pre-Op/PACU to support patient prep and recovery. The role includes direct patient care across preoperative and postoperative stages, IV initiation, vitals monitoring, and discharge planning.

The RN must have nursing licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and at least two years in Pre-Op/PACU; ambulatory experience is preferred. Join a team focused on high-quality perioperative care and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Virginia Nursing License.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Pre-Op/PACU; ambulatory setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
• Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
• Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed.
• Excellent teaching, communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation and be receptive to change.
• Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient admission processes to preoperative department.
• Assess health status in pre-op and verify patient identity.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are in order.
• Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out.
• Take and record vital statistics for readiness.
• Initiate IVs and inform patients about procedures.
• Assess patients’ condition after surgery and monitor vitals.
• Document findings in patient charts.
• Provide patient education and discharge planning.
• Coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure smooth perioperative flow.
• Maintain hygienic and sterile postoperative space.
