Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA, is seeking an RN for Ambulatory Care PRN to provide patient-centered perioperative nursing before, during, and after procedures. The position emphasizes teamwork with surgeons, nurses, and surgical technologists in a busy operating room environment.

You will evaluate patients preop, educate families, manage IV therapy and medications, participate in universal protocols, and support safe patient care through careful monitoring and documentation.

Qualifications

• Current RN license to practice in Virginia
• ACLS certification must be obtained within 4 months of employment start date
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation including intravenous therapy and preoperative medications
• Participate in surgical site verification according to hospital policy
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care within evidence-based practice
