LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Virginia is hiring an RN for the operating room to provide high-quality perioperative nursing care. The role includes patient evaluation, education, IV therapy, medication administration, and adherence to universal protocols within a collaborative surgical team.

The candidate should hold an RN license, have an associate or bachelor's degree, and be ACLS certified within 90 days of starting. A minimum of two years of experience is preferred for this position.

Qualifications

• ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• RN license required to practice in state of Virginia.
• Associate degree or bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients preoperatively and plan perioperative care.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and recovery.
• Administer IV therapy and preoperative medications; verify surgical sites.
• Assist with surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies during the perioperative period.
• Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care and participate in continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, techs and interdisciplinary team.
• Document patient condition and care provided accurately.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and follow-up.
