Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant for ambulatory care to support clinical operations and patient flow at UVA clinics. The role covers rooming patients, vitals, specimen collection, and point-of-care tests under supervision of the physician or licensed provider.

We offer flexible shifts, open Monday-Saturday, with 4-10 hour or 5-hour options and a sign-on bonus; compensation is hourly and depends on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of hire.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• Current MA Certification from a national professional association (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, or NHA) required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical intake, data collection, and patient prep.
• Perform point-of-care testing and basic lab tasks.
• Support licensed clinicians during examinations and procedures.
• Document charges and handle administrative tasks (scheduling, refills, in-basket messaging).
• Maintain supplies, cleanliness and safe environment.
