Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical support in an ambulatory setting under the supervision of a physician or LIP/RN designee. The role includes patient care, vital signs, specimen collection, and administration of medications as needed.

Responsibilities also cover data collection, chart prep, and ensuring a safe environment while maintaining high-quality patient interactions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: None required.
• Licensure: AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required; current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national association (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, or NHA) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining efficient clinic operations and clear communication with team, providers, and patients.
• Collect data for physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions per professional standards.
• Perform clinical intake, rooming, data collection, and documentation.
• Provide clinical support to licensed professionals during exams and procedures; prepare specimens and perform tests as needed.
