Job summary

Rochester Regional Health seeks an HIM Ambulatory Specialist to maintain confidentiality, security, and integrity of medical records per policies and regulations. The role supports daily operations by data entry, scanning, chart boxing, and responding to patient and staff inquiries.

Responsibilities include processing ROI requests, handling calls and mail, indexing EMRs such as Epic/Cerner/Meditech, and ensuring secure access to records.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Health Information Management (preferred).
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech or other EMR systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management software.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and health information regulations.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients, providers, and external partners
• Process ROI requests with HIPAA compliance
• Handle incoming calls, mail, faxes, and electronic in-basket messages
• Scan, index, quality check, and maintain electronic medical records
• Manage paper records: retrieval, storage, retention, and destruction
• Ensure the accuracy, security, and accessibility of medical records
• Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve record-related issues
• Support additional HIM functions as needed
