Job summary

Howard University is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to provide clinical, operational, and administrative support across Faculty Practice locations. The role requires adaptability to transition between practices and specialties while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualified candidates will have a Medical Assistant credential, an accredited program, and current BLS. Experience with electronic health records and a willingness to travel between campuses is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of ambulatory Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification and BLS certification are required.
• Experience with electronic health records is required.
• Ability to work across multiple Faculty Practice locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment according to workflows.
• Obtain and document vital signs and medical histories within scope.
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure supplies are available.
• Assist providers with procedures and patient care activities.
• Support patient education, calls, and clinical inbox workflows.
• Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Provide coverage across Faculty Practice locations as needed.
