You will review reports, assign accurate codes, and enter charges into the electronic medical record system, ensuring documentation aligns with payer requirements.

Qualifications

• Substantial knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS and modifiers for outpatient and inpatient procedures.
• Knowledge of NCCI, MU, MUE edits and bundling guidelines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft software and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Edits and reviews captured charges and medical documentation to determine codes.
• Abstracts procedure codes from reports and enters charges into EMR.
• Verifies data entry and attaches insurance information to encounters.
• Acts as coding resource and assists with questions as needed.
• Escalates coding questions to supervisor as required.
