Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Medical Assistant to support RNs and clinic operations. You will perform vital signs, medication review, and assist with patient data collection and procedures, under supervision. Proactive teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities include retrieving medical records, handling Epic In Baskets, processing prior authorizations, and providing administrative support while maintaining safety and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: 3 years clinical experience.
• Licensure: AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
• Certification: Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national association (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, or NHA).
• OR EMT/Paramedic: Virginia Department of Health EMT-Intermediate, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic required.
• Physical demands: Ability to lift 20-50 lbs; may be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with clinical and administrative tasks as described.
• Support clinic operations by retrieving medical records and covering Epic In Baskets.
• Assist with procedures and data collection in line with policy.
• Maintain effective communication with team, providers, and patients.
• Contribute to patient care planning and safety.
• Perform administrative support duties as needed.
• Participate in professional development of self and others.
