Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and contribute to efficient ambulatory clinic operations. You will collect data, assist licensed professionals during exams, perform point-of-care tests, venipuncture, drawing labs, and ensure accurate documentation and communication with the care team.

The role requires handling diverse patient needs across age groups, maintaining safety, and supporting education and care

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: None required.
• Licensure: AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required and Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national association.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care, vital signs, and intake.
• Support licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
• Prepare lab specimens and perform testing (point of care, ECG, spirometry, venipuncture).
• Maintain safe environment and clean/workspace; manage supplies/equipment.
• Provide administrative support: letters, forms, scheduling, refills, and in-basket messaging.
• Document charges for clinical services and coordinate with the team.
