Job summary

Carle Health is recruiting an Ambulatory Clinical Documentation Specialist to review charts and determine accurate CPT E/M, procedural and ICD-10-CM codes for outpatient encounters. You will partner with HIM leadership to ensure compliant coding practices and support education for providers and coding staff.

Responsibilities include conducting audits, identifying training needs, producing concise education materials, and issuing timely queries in the EMR to improve documentation and code

Qualifications

• Experience with ambulatory coding and auditing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT E/M and CPT procedural coding.
• Experience in provider education and audits.

Responsibilities

• Review quality and completeness of diagnostic and E/M codes to improve documentation.
• Apply medical terminology and coding knowledge to ensure proper code assignment.
• Provide regular coding reviews and feedback to staff and providers.
• Develop coding education materials and conduct education sessions.
• Escalate queries and notify Compliance as needed.
