Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking an Ambulatory Technologist to support exam rooms and assist providers in outpatient clinics. You will attach patients to EKG and other equipment, explain procedures, ensure supplies, and help with administrative data entry in the EMR.

Under Nursing Leadership, you will mentor new staff and participate in infection prevention and specimen handling, with opportunities to assist in procedures as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 6 months of progressively responsible professional work experience in the ambulatory clinic setting required

Responsibilities

• Assists providers during exams under Nursing Leadership direction and supports patient care
• Attaches patient to diagnostic equipment such as dynamapp, pulse oximeter and EKG
• Explains next steps to patients and ensures supplies are available for smooth operations
• Manages room supplies and equipment according to provider preferences
• Ensures efficient room utilization and minimizes patient wait time
• Escorts patients, obtains vital signs, performs diagnostic testing and specimen collection
• Enters patient data into the electronic medical record system and may perform scheduling/registration
• Maintains equipment and supplies, reorders, and coordinates with purchasing as needed
• Implements infection prevention measures and precepts new Ambulatory Technologists
• May assist with procedures as a surgical assistant and prepares instruments and specimens
