Job summary

The University of Rochester seeks a Clinical Support associate to assist providers during exams in outpatient clinics. Under nursing leadership, you perform a variety of clinical tasks, manage patient data and ensure safety and efficiency in exam rooms.

Responsibilities include attaching patients to diagnostic equipment, preparing supplies, entering data into the electronic medical record, and supporting infection prevention and patient education.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting required
• Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists providers during exams in outpatient clinics.
• Attaches patient to diagnostic and medical equipment (EKG, monitors, etc.).
• Provides information, comfort and care to patient during the exam and explains next steps.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available and ready for provider preference.
• Maintains efficient room utilization and minimizes patient wait time.
• Performs vital signs, specimen collection, and enters data into the EMR.
• Conducts inventory, reorders supplies, and coordinates with purchasing as needed.
• Implements infection prevention measures and supports patient safety.
