Job summary

University of Rochester’s University Health Services is seeking an Ambulatory Technician II to support clinical staff in outpatient settings. The role involves assisting during exams, preparing rooms, and handling data entry in the EMR system to ensure efficient patient flow and safety.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus at least 1 year in a customer-facing service setting; an Associate's degree is preferred. Day shift, full-time, located in Rochester, NY.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting required.
• Associate's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 6 months of progressively responsible professional work experience in the ambulatory clinic setting required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers during exams under RN leadership and supports patient care in outpatient clinics.
• Attaches patients to diagnostic equipment and monitors patient status during procedures.
• Records patient data in the electronic medical record; may handle scheduling and registration tasks.
• Maintains supplies and equipment, ensures room readiness and minimizes patient wait times.
• Preps rooms, instruments and specimens, and ensures proper labeling and handling per protocol.
