Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks an administrative professional to support ambulatory patients, coordinating appointments and tests across multiple providers and departments.

The role requires handling patient demographics, insurance verification, and co-pay collection, while aligning with insurer pre-authorization guidelines. Per Diem as needed with regular 8 AM–5 PM hours and in-person workflow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (education required).

Responsibilities

• Receives and directs calls from patients and physician offices.
• Schedules patients for treatment by multiple providers and treatment areas.
• Prioritizes appointments to foster optimal patient care and efficient use of staff and facilities.
• Handles urgent care calls and may alert providers to emergent symptoms.
• Schedules urgent care appointments as directed by physicians.
• Greets patients for scheduled and urgent appointments.
• Confirms and verifies patient demographics and insurance information.
• Collects co-payments from patients upon arrival when applicable.
• Obtains signatures of consent for treatment authorization and insurance/billing information.
• Collaborates with insurers to obtain prior-authorizations for procedures and tests.
• Follows insurer guidelines to obtain pre-authorization and referrals.
• Reviews billing discrepancy reports and researches errors for resolution.
• Maintains accurate records and logs.
