Job summary

University Hospital seeks an Ambulatory Care Technician Certified (Certified Medical Assistant) to support patients and providers from registration to discharge. You will structure patient flow for examinations and treatments, administer injections as directed, and assist with front-end and clinical office procedures.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, recording encounters in EMR, communicating abnormal vitals to providers, and ensuring a safe, organized clinical space.

Qualifications

• Current certification from AAMA/NCCT/NHA/AMCA/NAHP/NCMA or AMT registration, or NJ LPN license with injection capability.
• Must have competency in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• Annual review of medication administration with passing score.
• Proficient with computers and EMR systems.
• CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain a timely patient flow in ambulatory care.
• Prepare patients for visits by interviewing and screening medical histories and vital signs.
• Document all patient encounters in the EMR.
• Notify provider of abnormal vital signs immediately during visits.
• Administer vaccinations and injections per policy.
• Provide allergy and other screenings as designated.
• Maintain professional relationships and teamwork with coworkers.
• Verify insurance benefits and precertifications.
• Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and prepare supplies.
