Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ VA New Jersey Health Care System is recruiting an Advanced Medical Support Assistant for the Ambulatory Care Service to support Veterans with managing inpatient and outpatient appointments at East Orange, Lyons, or Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

You will monitor clinic setup, coordinate with clinic staff and care teams, maintain communications with patients and outside agencies, and help ensure smooth, patient-centered care across schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• English language proficiency: spoken and written.
• U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Assists Veterans with inpatient and outpatient appointment management and scheduling.
• Monitors clinic setup and coordinates with clinic staff and PACT members.
• Maintains communication with patients, care teams, VA facilities, and outside agencies.
• Performs duties to support access to care and patient flow within the Ambulatory Care Service.
