Job summary

Adventure Tours in Accokeek, MD is seeking a dispatcher/operations coordinator for early-morning shifts. You will own pull-out coordination, verify drivers are ready, and ensure on-time departures with clear, timely communications.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in dispatch/operations, knowledge of FMCSA hours of service, and proficiency with dispatch software, GPS, Outlook and Excel. We offer competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of dispatch, scheduling or operations experience in motorcoach, transit, school bus or trucking.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT rules, especially hours of service for passenger carriers.
• Comfort with dispatch software, GPS tracking, Outlook and Excel.
• Clear, steady communication on the phone and radio, even at 4 AM with three things going wrong.
• Strong organization and sound judgment under pressure.
• Reliability: we operate 24/7/365, including holidays, and the fleet can’t roll if dispatch isn’t there.
• Flexibility: days and hours may change based on the needs of the company, and participation in the on-call rotation is required.
• No CDL required.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Own the pull-out: verify drivers are checked in and fit for duty, and get buses out on time.
• Fill gaps fast: cover for missing drivers, coordinate with maintenance, keep clients informed.
• Watch the board: track buses live and monitor GPS, communicating with drivers continuously.
• Protect the clock: plan assignments within hours-of-service limits.
• Be the first call: manage breakdowns, delays, detours, and incidents per protocol.
• Keep the paper clean: manage trip sheets, logs and dispatch notes.
• Hand off strong: brief PM dispatcher on open issues to prevent slips.

Run the Morning. Own the Road.

Accokeek, MD | Full-time | Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Pay: $22–$25 per hour, based on experience

Who We Are

Adventure Tours has moved people since 1999. We started in Clinton, MD with a few buses and grew into a motorcoach operator running charter, line run and shuttle service from five markets: Accokeek MD, Philadelphia PA, Long Island NY, Richmond VA and Charlotte NC. We run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and government agencies, universities and groups across the East Coast count on us every day.

What Your Morning Looks Like

• Own the pull-out. Arrive before the first report time, confirm every driver is checked in and fit for duty, and get every bus out of the yard on time.
• Fill the gaps fast. A driver calls out or a bus won’t start? You find coverage, swap equipment with maintenance, and keep the client whole.
• Watch the board. Track buses live by GPS, stay in constant contact with drivers, and catch late runs before the customer notices.
• Protect the clock. Build assignments that keep every driver inside federal hours-of-service limits.
• Be the first call. Handle breakdowns, delays, detours and accidents calmly, and notify clients and managers by the book.
• Keep the paper clean. Trip sheets, driver logs, vehicle inspection reports and dispatch notes, done right every shift.
• Hand off strong. Brief the PM dispatcher on open issues so nothing falls through the cracks.
