Job summary

William & Mary is seeking an Associate Director of Affinity & Generational Engagement to lead engagement programs for alumni, students, and families. You will oversee strategic program development, volunteer management, and cross-campus collaboration within the University Advancement portfolio.

This hybrid role based in Williamsburg, VA involves budgeting, data reporting, and working with multiple campus partners to strengthen affinity and class engagement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education, experience and training).
• Typically 3+ years in volunteer management.
• Typically 3+ years in alumni relations, fundraising or related field.
• Strong customer service, oral and written communication skills.
• Strong administrative and project coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• 40% Strategic Program Development & Execution: design and implement engagement strategies for affinity, generational, and class-based programs; manage budgets and ROI tracking.
• 30% Volunteer Management: develop relationships with students and alumni volunteers; document activity in CRM; identify board and council prospects.
• 20% Cross-Campus Partnerships: coordinate with campus departments and external vendors; serve as primary liaison for councils and networks.
• 10% Performance Management: set clear expectations, provide feedback, complete evaluations, and ensure safety and staff development.
