Job summary

Nasdaq is seeking an Alternative Data Partnerships – Business Development Specialist to expand its alt data business by sourcing, evaluating, and securing high-value data partnerships with non-traditional data owners. You will build relationships with senior executives, pitch Nasdaq’s value proposition, and lead data assessments for quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Marketing, Economics, or Communications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years in partnerships, business development, data acquisition, or strategic sourcing with a track record of closing complex data/FinTech alliances.
  • Strong understanding of the alt data and fintech ecosystem, including data packaging, pricing, and usage by end-markets.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex legal frameworks including revenue-share models and master partnership agreements.
  • Solid understanding of data privacy regulations, compliance requirements, and risk in third-party data sourcing.

Alternative Data Partnerships – Business Development Specialist

Reporting to the Head of Data Partnerships, you'll play a critical role in expanding Nasdaq's alternative data business by sourcing, evaluating, and securing unique, high-value data partnerships with non-traditional data owners across key industry verticals.

You'll thrive in this role if you're entrepreneurial, consultative, and energized by the challenge of building relationships with senior executives and helping them understand the value of their data and what a partnership with Nasdaq can unlock.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new alternative data providers across high-value verticals, developing a new partner pipeline from prospecting to close.
  • Educate and pitch potential partners on Nasdaq's value proposition, developing compelling business cases for exclusive data commercialization opportunities.
  • Lead initial data assessments, evaluating quality, compliance, privacy practices, and overall strategic fit for Nasdaq's data products portfolio.
  • Negotiate and initiate complex data licensing agreements, revenue-share models, and strategic alliances that protect partner intellectual property while maximizing mutual value.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and the broader Data Products team to evaluate prospective partners and ensure differentiated, high-alpha data assets.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Marketing, Economics, or Communications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, data acquisition, or strategic sourcing, with a demonstrated track record of closing complex data or financial technology alliances.
  • Strong understanding of the alternative data and financial technology ecosystem, including how data assets are packaged, priced, and utilized by end-markets.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex legal frameworks including revenue-share models and master partnership agreements.
  • Solid understanding of data privacy regulations, compliance requirements, and risk considerations related to third-party data sourcing.
Nice-to-Have
  • Prior experience in the investment industry or financial data.
  • Experience engaging directly with C-level executives, including cold outreach and executive-level presentations.
  • Familiarity with global data licensing structures and cross-border partnership frameworks.

The base pay range for this role is $90,000 - $153,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
