Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks an early-career Information Systems Security Manager in Raleigh, NC to provide day-to-day cybersecurity oversight for multiple classified systems, with emphasis on SIPRNet environments connected to the DoDIN.

The role supports RMF/ATO maintenance, eMASS administration, continuous monitoring, and government reviews. The Alternate ISSM collaborates with technical stakeholders, maintains artifacts, and ensures authorization readiness across DoD

Qualifications

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance; SCI eligibility preferred.
• Bachelor's degree with 5–7 years of experience or Master's with 3–5 years.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity/supporting DoD systems.
• 2+ years of ISSM/leadership responsibilities.
• Experience with RMF/DoD authorization processes and continuous monitoring.
• Hands-on with eMASS or similar governance-risk-compliance platform.
• Experience with vulnerability tools and patch management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an Alternate ISSM for assigned classified systems and maintain day-to-day cybersecurity compliance and risk visibility.
• Support RMF/ATO lifecycle activities including system categorization and control implementation.
• Develop and maintain System Security Plans, SSPs, and assessment reports.
• Administer eMASS records and artifacts; track assessment results and risk decisions.
• Maintain readiness for RMF reviews, audits, and corrective actions.
• Review changes through configuration/control processes; reflect in baselines and RMF artifacts.
• Coordinate cybersecurity matters with technical teams and stakeholders.
• Support policy development and governance documentation for the organization.
• Assist in incident response and urgent vulnerability remediation as required.
