Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks a System Administrator to support ISSM/ISSO in managing classified IS under NISP. The role ensures RMF compliance, maintains Authority to Operate, and provides hands-on security for Windows and Linux environments.

Responsibilities include patching, STIGs/SCAPs, change control, incident reporting, and RMF lifecycle activities. A TS clearance with SCI eligibility is required, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility or higher, or equivalent
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux security hardening and STIG application
• Knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117, DAAG, and NIST 800-series publications
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Manage patching, account management, STIGs/SCAPs, updates and installs
• Follow approved change management for hardware/software changes
• Administer Windows and Linux user accounts, services, storage, backups and recovery
• Monitor system health and apply patches and security updates
• Maintain CM documentation and RMF artifacts
• Implement security controls per NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and STIGs
• Report incidents to ISSM per 32 CFR Part 117
• Assist ISSM/ISSO across RMF lifecycle activities
• Develop and update information systems documentation
• Conduct periodic assessments and remediation of identified findings
