Job summary

Saks Fifth Avenue is seeking an Alterations Associate to produce high quality alterations within set time frames while delivering exceptional customer service. You will work closely with customers, applying expert tailoring skills and maintaining strong relationships to ensure a superior shopping experience.

Under the Alterations Manager, you will follow all policies and contribute to a smooth, safe work environment. Prior luxury tailoring experience and a strong eye for detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years seamstress/tailoring experience in luxury merchandise.
• Ability to tailor and press a wide range of garments.
• Strong technical background in specialty skills such as leather, knits, beading is desired.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality altered merchandise within established time frames.
• Provide exceptional customer service and build lasting client relationships.
• Follow alterations workroom policies and Saks policies and procedures.
• Utilize expertise to make alteration decisions during fittings.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment and support department initiatives.

You Will Be

Under direction from the Alterations Manager, the Alterations Associate is responsible for producing high quality altered merchandise within established time frame standards while providing customer service, establishing and helping to maintain customer relationships and working effectively with other team members within the store.

What You Will Do

• Model all Saks Fifth Avenue Customer Service Principles.
• Focus on achieving and exceeding individual performance and productivity goals.
• Maintain a consistent high level of customer service by creating and developing excellent customer relationships.
• Follow all Saks Fifth Avenue policies and procedures.
• Follow all alteration workroom policies and procedures.
• Ability to utilize expertise to make alterations decisions during customer fittings.
• Focus on all efforts on providing an exceptional customer experience.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Support company/store and department initiatives
• Ad hoc responsibilities as needed

What You Will Bring

• Minimum 5 years seamstress/tailoring experience in high-end merchandise
• Ability to tailor and press a wide range of garments
• Possession of strong technical background in specialty skills such as: leather, knits, double face, beading, fine tailoring, buttonholes etc. is desired and a benefit.
• Pressing and spotting skills.
• Knowledge of Alterations industry including fabrication and styling of luxury merchandise.
• Be open to learning and developing new skills and processes.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
