Job summary

Saks Global is seeking an Alterations Fitter in Honolulu to perform alterations, resizing, and restyling of merchandise across Saks Fifth Avenue stores. You will assist fitters in achieving goals with professional support on fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel.

Responsibilities include altering garments to Saks quality standards, operating sewing equipment, and self-inspecting work for quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add/subtract/multiply/divide) in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Alter constructed garments to meet Saks quality standards, equal to or better than original construction.
• Alter seams, venting, shoulder adjustments, and sleeve modifications.
• Shorten sleeves, back, collar; square shoulders; reline or remake pockets as needed.
• Operate and maintain sewing equipment with attention to quality.
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Complete assigned alterations as directed by Supervisor/Lead.
• Interpret written and oral instructions accurately.
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.

You Will Be

As a Alterations Fitter, you will be conducting alterations, resizing and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Saks Fifth Avenues stores. You will assist fitters in achieving their goals with professional assistance with fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.

What You Will Do

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Saks equal or better than original construction
• Alter seams vented or unvented, take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, narrow shoulders.
• Rotate sleeves, shorten sleeves
• Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders
• Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Complete alterations assigned tasks, as assigned by Supervisor/Lead
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead

What You Will Bring

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
• Ability to read English and understand instruction by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
