UMIAQ Environmental in Anchorage seeks a Logistics Specialist to drive efficient movement of goods across Alaska. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee logistics operations supporting remote and urban projects, working with internal teams and vendors to meet budgets and timelines.

The role demands strong organizational and communication skills, experience in remote environments, and the ability to travel. A valid driver license, DOT familiarity, and 40-hour HAZWOPER training are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in logistics or related field.
• 4+ years of logistics coordination experience, preferably in Alaska or remote environments.
• Knowledge of air, sea, and ground transportation and regional challenges.
• Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Experience with DOT regulations and hazardous materials handling is a plus.
• Based in Anchorage with ability to travel to remote sites across Alaska.
• Valid driver license and insurable driving record; 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including field visits.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate statewide logistics operations across Alaska including transport, warehousing, and distribution.
• Develop and maintain shipment schedules within timelines and budgets.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate freight contracts.
• Track inventory and shipments using logistics software and maintain records.
• Ensure compliance with transportation and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, and project managers on logistics plans.
• Solve weather and remote site logistics challenges; adapt to seasonal constraints.
• Prepare reports and analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
