Job summary

UMIAQ Environmental in Anchorage is seeking a Logistics Specialist to drive efficient movement of goods across Alaska. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee logistics operations for remote and urban sites.

The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with experience in transportation modes and field work throughout Alaska.

Travel to remote sites is expected; you will work with operations, procurement, and project managers to meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of logistics coordination experience, preferably in Alaska or remote environments.
• Knowledge of transportation modes (air, sea, ground) and regional challenges.
• Proficiency with logistics software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to travel and perform field work as needed.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and hazardous materials handling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate statewide logistics operations including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
• Develop and maintain shipment schedules to meet timelines and budgets.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate freight contracts.
• Track inventory and shipments using logistics software and maintain records.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align logistics with project needs.
• Solve weather and remote-site logistics challenges.
• Prepare reports and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
