Job summary

Alaska Communications is seeking a Materials Management Specialist II to handle receiving, stocking, issuing, and shipping materials across offices, warehouses, and yard environments. The role requires ensuring accuracy in inventory and compliance with HazMat rules, with on-site duties and occasional travel between facilities.

The position may be filled at MMS II or Trainee level, depending on experience, with on-the-job training available for those meeting the criteria.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and 1 year general office experience; or HS diploma plus 3 years general office experience.
• Three years warehouse experience with computerized inventory systems.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license and forklift training/certification within 90 days.
• IATA and CFR Part 49 hazardous materials certification within 180 days.
• Must pass drug and alcohol background check and pre-employment tests.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and perform keyboarding test at 30 WPM.

Responsibilities

• Receive materials from carriers; check for overages, shortages, and damages.
• Package and ship materials to vendors and Alaska Communications facilities.
• Stock, locate, and issue materials using the inventory system.
• Coordinate with crews and departments; train MMS II staff as directed.
• Conduct annual physical inventories; prepare reports and resolve variances.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment; ensure safety compliance.
