Alabama-A is seeking a Materials Support who will assemble and refurbish ASIM kits, manage inventory, and coordinate deliveries to high school teachers in Region 3 near Alabama A&M University.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, valid driver's license, and reliable attendance. You will work under the Biology Specialist to ensure timely preparation and turnover of kits and supplies for science education across partner schools.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and/or refurbish ASIM kits.
  • Assist with inventory control.
  • Assist in organizing materials to ensure efficient use of space and storage of ASIM materials.
  • Deliver and/or pick up scientific equipment, materials, and supplies to/from participating high school science teachers in Region 3.
  • Follow safety procedures, both on the road and while loading/unloading vehicle.
  • Monitor the condition of the vehicle and report issues to specialists and/or the site director.
  • Meet physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, crouching/stooping, and other movements.
  • Maintain open communication with the site director, specialists, and teachers.

Summary

The Materials Support position will assist our ASIM Biology Specialist by maintaining science teaching kits. They will also deliver and pick up those kits from the schools the Biology Specialist serves in Region 3. will construct and refurbish science teaching kits and kits supplies. They will deliver and pick up kits, equipment and other materials from the schools we serve in Region 3. The Materials Support will also will maintain, track and rotate stock.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Construct and/or refurbish ASIM kits
  • Assist with inventory control
  • Assist in organizing materials to ensure efficient use of space and storage of ASIM materials
  • Deliver and/or pick up scientific equipment, materials, and supplies to/from participating high school science teachers in our Region 3 School Districts surrounding Alabama A&M University scheduled
  • Follow safety procedures, both on the road and while loading/unloading vehicle, as instructed by Alabama A&M University
  • Monitor the condition of the vehicle and report issues to specialists and/or the site director to ensure that any repairs/problems are attended to immediately
  • Meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, crouching/stooping, handling, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, speaking, standing, walking/running, carrying, driving, keyboarding, reaching, sitting, squatting, twisting/bending, writing
  • Meet regular attendance and punctuality requirements
  • Maintain open communication with the site director, specialists, and teachers
  • Accomplish essential functions in a timely manner

Minimum Position Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills
