AMSTI-ASIM Materials Specialist (2 positions available)

Job Duties:

The AMSTI (Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative) ASIM(Alabama Science in Motion) Materials Specialist is a professionalstaff member of the Regional In-service Center. The primaryresponsibility is the daily operation of the AMSTI materialscenter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Build math and science teaching kits using an assemblyline
  • Break down math and science teaching kits using a disassemblyline
  • Assist with inventory control through stocking kits and kitsupplies, maintaining stock, and rotating stock
  • Assist in organizing the materials center to ensure safestorage and efficient use of space
  • Deliver and/or pick up equipment, materials, and suppliesto/from participating teachers
  • Follow safety procedures, both on the road and whileloading/unloading vehicles, as instructed by the Alabama StateDepartment of Education (ALSDE)
  • Monitor the condition of the vehicle and report issues to thedirect supervisor to ensure that any repairs/problems are attendedto immediately
  • Interact with Monday.com through scanner or minimal statuschanges
  • Assist with preparation for AMSTI and ASIM programs, trainings,presentations, and the operation of the materials center
  • Meet regular attendance and punctuality requirements
  • Accomplish essential functions in a timely manner
  • Help maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Represent ALSDE, AMSTI, ASIM, and the hiring Institution ofHigher Education (IHE) and promote a positive impression bydemonstrating a collegial and professional customer-serviceapproach at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the business/materialsmanager, site director, BOLT, or AMSTI-ALSDE
Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICAITONS REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Experience may besubstituted for education
  • Valid driver's license, must pass driver safety training, andan acceptable driving record required
  • Ability to operate IHE-owned motor vehicles while complyingwith safety codes, state and federal traffic rules, regulations,and safe operating practices
  • Ability to relate well to a diverse population
  • Proficient in the use of standard office software, includingemail
  • Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience with project management software preferred but notrequired
  • Experience in inventory control and driving non-CDL truckspreferred but not required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but notlimited to: lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing, crouching/stooping,handling, pushing/pulling, repetitive movement, speaking, standing,walking/running, carrying, driving, keyboarding, reaching, sitting,squatting, twisting/bending, and writing
  • Ability to view information in print or electronically; nearand distance vision required to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, such as standingand/or sitting, for a prolonged period of time
  • Frequently communicates with others to exchangeinformation
  • Frequently tasked with repeating motions that may include thewrists, hands, and/or fingers, such as operating a computer andother office productivity machinery
  • Occasionally exposed to noisy environments
  • Operates a motor vehicle when needed

  • Ability to observe surroundings and perceive warnings and othersounds in the work environment
Salary Schedule:

Salary Band: N70 — Salary range is $31,878 – $39,847.
