Job summary

City of Austin is seeking an Airport Deputy Chief Officer of Security to lead and oversee the airport security program at AUS. The role requires coordinating with TSA, regulatory agencies, and city departments while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, strategic planning, and budgeting skills, with a track record of managing large, multi-site security operations in a complex urban airport environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus six years of related experience, including two years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
• Master’s degree may substitute for up to two years of required experience.
• Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal laws affecting airport operations.
• Ability to manage budgets and lead diverse teams in a complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Airport Chief Officer in leading programs, functions, and initiatives.
• Develops short- and long-range strategic objectives, policies, and priorities.
• Ensures compliance with Federal, State, Local, and industry regulations.
• Assists in preparation, presentation, and monitoring of the department budget.
• Develops and implements operating procedures and policies for programs and activities.
• Represents the department to boards, city departments, and external agencies.
