Job summary

Bags, a Metropolis company, is seeking a Facility Manager to lead airport operations in Norfolk, VA. This full-time role oversees Supervisors, Baggage Handlers, Wheelchair Assistants and Skycaps, ensuring efficient service and compliance with audits and client requirements.

You will manage payroll, coaching, staffing, training and client communications, while developing strong relationships with local labor unions and regional management. SIDA training is required.

Qualifications

• At least two years of managerial experience.
• Experience in airline hospitality, restaurant, tourism, retail, or armed forces.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with employees and clients to meet performance requirements.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, applicant tracking and payroll systems.
• Front-line management experience with recruiting and staffing responsibilities.
• Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Must obtain SIDA security clearance badge and complete Ground Security Coordinator training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff including Supervisors, Baggage Handlers, Wheelchair Assistants and Skycaps.
• Maintain records on company technology and required airline materials.
• Monitor, coach and document daily activities of the operation and employees.
• Inform corporate and area management of deficiencies.
• Communicate with client and guests to ensure service levels.
• Respond to clients and corporate inquiries promptly and effectively.
• Schedule and staff a busy year-round operation.
• Supervise payroll accuracy and employee performance.
• Provide proactive customer service and foster team morale.
• Identify and correct productivity, standards and efficiency issues.
• Ensure audits (HR, financial, risk) meet satisfactory results.
• Develop working relationships with local labor unions where applicable.
• Support regional or corporate leadership on special initiatives.
