Job summary

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is seeking an Airfreight Export Coordinator in Los Angeles. The role oversees outbound shipments from pickup to billing, ensuring service commitments and company objectives are met.

You will analyze issues, manage documentation, and support export compliance while coordinating with internal teams. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in freight forwarding, a two-year degree or equivalent, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination may satisfy education.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years freight forwarding experience preferred.
• Completion of industry-related course is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze service failures and escalate for timely resolution.
• Archive shipment related documents.
• Assign tasks to internal departments as needed.
• Confirm shipment-level profitability and flag low-margin shipments.
• Ensure export/import documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Address accounts payable issues within area of responsibility.
• Prepare airway bill pouch and labels.
• Process external billing based on quotations and contract rates.
• Perform export compliance tasks including Denied Party Screening and AES filings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• This position has a base compensation range of $31.00 to $34.65. In addition to this base compensation, you'll benefit from our competitive health and welfare programs, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, opportunities for tuition assistance, and incentive compensation for eligible positions. The Airfreight Export Coordinator manages the transportation and compliance of an outbound shipment from pick up to customer billing, ensuring service commitments are achieved and company objectives met.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Analyzes service failures across multiple departments and actions or escalates findings to ensure their timely resolution and preventative measures are being taken (i.e. billing discrepancies, claims, delays…etc)
• Archives all shipment related documents
• Assigns tasks as required to internal departments based on the nature of the request
• Confirms shipment-level profitability and escalates any loss-making or low margin shipments to supervisor
• Controls commercial documentation required for export or import declaration and other regulatory agencies or requirements (AES, DPS, Hazmat, AMS)
• Actions the resolution of any accounts payable issues within area of responsibility.
• Prepares house airway bill pouch and labels
• Processes external billing based on quotations, established contract rates and standard tariffs and verifies if additional charges were incurred such as trucker waiting time
• Responsible for the export compliance including Denied Party Screening and AES filing
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

• Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
• High School Diploma or GED
• One to three years of previous experience in freight forwarding industry preferred
• Completion of any industry related course is an asset
