Job summary

Pratt & Whitney’s Hot Section Engineering Support to Operations (HSE ESTO) in Asheville, NC seeks a goal-oriented Design Engineer II to support the HSE ESTO Airfoils team. You will assist military and commercial airfoil production with quality improvement, corrective actions, and producibility while coordinating with operations, quality, procurement, suppliers, and SMEs to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field; 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience with airfoil design or manufacturing is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, and Unigraphics/NX.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage corrective actions, Quality Notifications (QN), and Cost of Poor Quality initiatives with root-cause investigations and measurable improvements.
• Develop Class II engineering change packages using Pro-Cert methodology to improve quality, cost, producibility, and production processes.
• Serve as SME for assigned airfoil part families and engine hardware; prevent repeat QNs and support investigations.
• Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, suppliers, and engineering SMEs to resolve production issues and drive timely technical closure.
• Present technical status and recommendations to CIPTs, ESTO leadership, and Program Management, promoting risk-based analysis.
