Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I in Norfolk, VA to perform maintenance on engines, sheet metal, structure, hydraulics, and electrical systems. You will read manuals, troubleshoot malfunctions, and repair or replace parts to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.

The role requires a high school diploma and 3 years’ recent experience in aircraft or related systems, knowledge of technical publications, and the ability to operate ground support equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years’ actual and recent aircraft, vehicle or weapon system experience; 5 years preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft or related systems.
• Must understand engine operations, rigging, electrical, pneudraulic and mechanical principles.

Responsibilities

• Repair and overhaul aircraft structures, engines and components following manuals.
• Inspect, replace and install parts; perform preflight and post-flight maintenance.
• Record work in maintenance logs and ensure safe operating condition.
• Supervise jacking and towing of aircraft and operate ground support equipment.
