Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I in Norfolk, VA to perform a broad range of maintenance tasks on aircraft structures, engines and systems. You will interpret manuals, service bulletins, and diagrams, and work under supervision with higher graded technicians.

This role requires attention to safety procedures and documentation of work performed, including line and shop duties. The position emphasizes hands‑on repair, assembly, installation, and testing of mechanical components, airframe

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
3 years’ actual and recent aircraft, vehicle or missile experience; 5 years desired.
Knowledge of maintenance publications and schematics.
Able to inspect and repair engines, airframe components and systems.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and replacements on aircraft structures and components.
Troubleshoot malfunctions in engines, hydraulics, electrical, and pneudraulic systems.
Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins and wiring diagrams.
Inspect, service and rig aircraft systems and components; maintain maintenance records.
