The North Carolina Forest Service is a team of professionals who provide forest protection, emergency response, resource management, and environmental education to the residents and landowners of North Carolina through various programs. The NC Forest Service offers services to all 100 counties in North Carolina.
The NCFS Aviation Division is responsible for fire detection and suppression, airborne pest control detection, water quality, hazard reduction burning, and other supporting flights.
The primary purpose of the NCFS Maintenance Organization is to maintain the division’s aircraft and serve on the flight crew to assist in wildfire suppression.
Residency requirement: Must reside within one hour of the duty station.

Applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
Must hold FAA certification as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
Additional certifications such as FAA Inspection Authorization are preferred.
Qualify through education or experience: FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician school + 1 year experience, or high school/GED + 3 years related experience, or equivalent training and experience.
Possession of FAA Airframe and Powerplant license; may require EPA certification as a technician.
