Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is hiring two Associate Air Pollution Inspectors II for the Air & Noise Enforcement Unit, based at Lefrak Building, Queens, or Greenpoint Avenue, Brooklyn. You will plan and conduct citywide inspections of air and noise sources to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with 5 years relevant inspection experience, including supervisory work.
• Bachelor’s degree with 24 credits in engineering/related fields plus 2 years of relevant experience, including supervisory.
• Experience in air contaminants inspection or noise-control equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct citywide inspections of air and noise sources to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct investigations and prepare periodic progress reports on findings.
• Supervise, advise, and evaluate a team of Air Pollution Inspectors; schedule and assign work.
• Serve as liaison to city and other agencies; respond to inquiries and explain protocols.
