Job summary

United Pharma in Michigan seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and validate air intake systems for internal combustion engines and hybrid vehicles. You will work on ducts, air cleaners, hoses, resonators, filters, brackets, and charge ducts, focusing on packaging and validation.

You will lead CAD/CAE activities, coordinate prototyping and testing, implement DFMEA and DVP&R, and collaborate with suppliers and plants. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Strong understanding of air intake systems and components.
• Working knowledge of CAD design and engineering documentation.
• Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R.
• Ability to manage suppliers and coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development activities for air intake systems, from initial packaging through component and system validation.
• Coordinate CAD design, CAE analysis, prototyping, and physical testing to meet engine and vehicle performance requirements.
• Develop and apply Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Validation Plans (DVP&R).
• Coordinate with suppliers, track development progress, and ensure component maturity and program milestones are achieved.
• Support sourcing activities, supplier management, and technical design reviews.
• Assist with vehicle and engine assembly plant activities, including occasional onsite support.
• Address quality concerns, process change validation, and post-launch cost-reduction initiatives.
