Job summary

Nippon Express USA is seeking a detail-oriented Import Agent specializing in air freight to join our Houston, TX team. You will manage the import process, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with airlines, brokers, and clients to provide excellent service.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in import/export with a focus on air freight, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in logistics software. On-site role with room for growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• GED or equivalent education required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in import/export operations with a focus on air freight.
• Basic knowledge of customs regulations, import documentation and compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics software (Webcargo, Cargowise, etc.).
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the importation of air freight shipments from origin to destination.
• Ensure compliance with relevant customs regulations and documentation requirements.
• Communicate with airlines, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth imports.
• Prepare and review import documentation (bills of lading, invoices, packing lists).
• Track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues.
• Provide excellent customer service and keep clients informed of status.
• Maintain accurate records and update internal systems.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in import regulations and best practices.
• Adapt to special duties as assigned by management.
